Bachō Mōki  ( () (ちょう) 孟起 (もうき)? Ma Chao - Mengqi), also known as Sui  ( (すい)?), is a general of Shoku and one of the many heroines in the Koihime†Musō series. She's Bakyū and Batetsu's older sister, and Batai's cousin. She also served a general of the Hongō faction in the original Koihime†Musō.

She first appears fighting in the anti-Tōtaku war with her father Batō and departs once the war is over. Sometimes afterwards, Sōsō takes over Batō's territory in Ryōshū, which results in Batō's death. Homeless and fatherless, Bachō presents herself to Kazuto, requesting to join his army so that one day she can have her revenge against Sōsō. However she gets better emotionally later on, eventually coming to peace with herself and forgives Sōsō.

Anime version[]

The daughter of the late Batō who was supposedly killed by Sōsō. Although she is a tomboy in her speech and manners, she is really a simple, straight-forward, and easily embarrassed girl. She wields a cross yari and is very strong in both power and form. The third person to join the group, she quickly becomes close friends with Chōhi.

Sengoku†Koihime X[]

She appears in Kensuke's memories.

Somewhat tomboyish (nowhere near Gien's level), Bachō usually acts cool and laid-back. However, she's very sensitive about topics regarding love; similar to Kan'u, she suffers from a complex where she lack confidence in her own appeals as a woman. This results in her having little to no tolerance towards anything perverted. Kazuto takes advantage of this and often teases her by putting her in embarrassing and sometimes perverted situations, during which she become greatly flustered to the point of not being able to talk without stuttering heavily. Sometimes the pranks get overboard and she becomes a tsundere, calling Kazuto "baka" with a lot of hitting. Outside Kazuto's teasing she also gets embarrassed easily when presented to more feminine topics or when given compliments regarding her sex appeal.
Though not as simple-minded and naive as Chōhi, Bachō certainly won't rank top among the girls in terms of intelligence. She is headstrong, and tend to rely on brute force in dealing with problems. This is a fact which herself acknowledges, and she prefers physical work over anything that involves mental effort. However this doesn't stop her from being a valuable member of the group; she is fiercely loyal to her friends and her duties.

Due to her complex, it was difficult at first for Kazuto to get a relationship started with her. As a result, Kazuto's advances towards her is somewhat more forceful, with much coercing and teasing. Despite denying it many times, it's very obvious that she is deeply in love with Kazuto.

Skills and Abilities[]

Spearsmanship: Having trained from a young age, Bachō is very proficient with her jumonji yari, which is well-designed for both slashing and stabbing. In the anime, Bachō is shown to be able to easily hold her own against Chōhi despite the latter being known her exceptional strength in the use of her spear.

Enhanced Physical Prowess: Her strength, speed, reflexes, and stamina are beyond ordinary soldiers. On the battlefield her spear technique is further augmented by her strength and quickness. Together with Chōhi it's very common to see the sky being filled with enemy soldiers who are unfortunate enough to get hit by their blows.

Leadership Skills: She is a capable general, her bravery and heroics play a major role in leading her cavalry forces.

Horsemanship: She is arguably the best horse-rider in the series. Ryōshū is famous for its cavalry units and her family is closely affiliated with horses.

Insight: In the anime she is able to read the aura of her opponents. By doing so, she can measure their strength and honesty.
